Greetings from Sunny S.A.

Attention all you East Coasters freezing your arses off under yet another coating of snow: it was 82 and bluebird sunny today. Time to get on a plane!

Our eagle-eyed friend Susan V. spotted a CRAZY deal on airfare, so if you’ve ever been on the fence about visiting, now is the time! Fly from New York or D.C. all the way to Durban for $1599. FOR TWO PEOPLE. That’s insanely low (for a bit of perspective, we flew Jo’burg to D.C. in November for $1600 each. Not counting our separate tix to Jo’burg).

You have to book by 1/21, and travel before 3/31. We happen to be wide open between now and then, so bring it on!

Fare Alert

If you want to come see us and it’s price holding you back rather than ready availability of vacation days, check out this hot deal! DC or JFK to Johannesburg for $884 roundtrip –¬†including taxes. (To give you an idea, that’s less than half of what we paid to travel just 5 weeks ago). The catch is that the fare is only good for travel between November 4 and December 5 of this year. And you’d still need to book an additional flight from Jo’burg to Cape Town, but flying domestically in SA is pretty cheap (at least compared to what we’re used to in the States – especially those of you used to flying out of RIC).

Anyway, that hot tip came from Stephen V., who is subscribed to TravelZoo.com’s weekly deals email. If you’re waiting for a great fare to come along, it might not be a bad idea to sign up. If anyone else finds a great deal on fares to SA, please let me know and I’ll post here for the group.
